5 Compelling Reasons for Using Video

Recently I blogged about what features/technology was important to implement on a website in 2012. I omitted video for reasons I thought were sound.

A number of my videographer friends assure me that this is not the case and that video is a must have for 2012.

Here is a list of 5 compelling reasons for video provided by Rich Knew, the owner of Knew Productions.

ONE – Consistent and Constant In the USA video is currently the fastest growing marketing format, so we are never too far behind. A video will deliver a constant message every time. Videos featuring you and your team, will give you the opportunity to create and develop trust with potential customers. We all know that people buy from people and so a well produced video is almost as good as a face to face meeting with a prospect. It helps give your business credibility and brings your products and services to life!

TWO – Exciting and Engaging Video content makes things easy for your audience. The average surfer has an attention span that can be measured in seconds. The need to gather information quickly and without much effort is what makes video so popular. Video captures their attention, engages them and then they are more likely to look at other pages, stay loyal and maybe even pick up the phone. There’s a real stickability benefit here the longer you can keep a visitor on your website the greater chance you have of exposing your brand and generating sales.

THREE – Stand Out From The Crowd, Stand out from your competitors and be the first in your region, sector or trade to use video. As it will become a business norm over the next few years. The web technology is capable now and generally it’s more affordable than in the past when it was mainly large companies who commissioned corporate videos. I would go as far a saying that we are close to the stage where the end user expects to see video on a business website.

FOUR – Google Loves Video YouTube has become more business savvy of late, it is fast becoming a vital SEO ingredient particularly since Google now owns You Tube and it is the second most used search engine in the world. So it is unsurprising that businesses are taking its SEO benefits very seriously.

FIVE – Anytime, Everywhere It can be virtually cost free to distribute your video items to thousands of prospects 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There is a far greater ROI from video now than say 2 or 3 years ago with multiple ways to show what your business does via video. Once your video has been edited you can upload or screen it in all sorts of places. There are the traditional uses of DVD or laptop at trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, conferences and now there is your website, You Tube Channel, Vimeo, ipad, phone, business directories, facebook, Pinterest and other social media platforms.

Bonus Material: It’s A Fun Process! Many of our clients enjoy the film making process. It creates a buzz in the workplace and is great for office banter and bringing your team together. There is a lot of added value to be had from having a video produced with opportunities for PR work and Twitter activity on the back of it.
